This piece was painted in September 2017 by Shannon Boyd – and depicts the late Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in Star Wars 4 – A New Hope (just “Star Wars” to the over-40s).
We asked Shannon why he painted this piece and he said:
Carrie Fisher passed away recently – she was a huge role model and icon. A beautiful woman inside and out. Princess Leia was a strong character and her last movie is coming out in December. I wanted to pay my tribute to her in a place where hundreds of thousands of people might see her. She is so recognisable.
