Welcome to Bondi was painted by ELK (with a bit of help from Days One DCA) across three panels on the wall – it and features twenty four Border Force officers in full military riot gear armed with automatic weapons.
We asked Luke (ELK) about the inspiration behind the piece – and he said:
This is a comment on our inhumane treatment of Asylum seekers. The 24 Australian Border Force officers represent the 24 suicides in Australian detention facilities (onshore and offshore) since 2010.
