In December 2022, artist Emmanual Asante painted this piece on the wall – featuring a boy in front of a dartboard.
We asked Emmanuel about the inspiration behind his piece and he told us:
My inspiration was drawn from my personal experience as a young African living in Australia… The prejudice against my race is very sad. This artwork is a form of solidarity for anyone who experiences racism.

Further discussion revealed that the young boy in front of the dart board represented the artist being the target of childhood racism, the darts represented harsh words and treatment aimed at non-white people and the buterflies represented rebirth in spite of struggle.
