Beach Bags was painted in 2018 by artist Maryjane Boaretto Pureza and features a number of beach-goers relaxing and playing on the sand.
If you look closely though, every character has a small bag on their hip. Maryjane‘s artwork is designed to raise awareness and start conversations about Ostomies and IBD. There are 46,000 Australians living with an Ostomy, so it’s time to spread awareness and start talking about it.
I use bright colours and happy characters to portray a positive message and help reduce the stigma behind living life with an Ostomy. Ostomies are not something we should have to hide as they help improve the lives of many people.
