This piece was painted over a week and a half in December 2016 by Em Carey – it was such a labour of love that she actually put herself in hospital she was working so hard.
Everything about this work is amazing – it is already the MOST popular work of the season (as at mid-Jan 2017) with tourists snapping themselves in front of the piece, doing acrobatics and generally going mad for it – but it’s Emma’s detail that makes it really work for me – every pen-mark is perfect, and the detail she has used to fill the oceans and seas is painstakingly done.
